Gerhard Schwarz is responsible for R & D Explosion protected light and switchgear in Cooper Crouse Hinds GmbH and also responsible for the worldwide certification of hazardous area products.
His background is in Electrical Power Engineering having over 40 years experience with an involvement of more than 30 years in Hazardous Area equipment.
In addition to the daily work he is also involved in numerous IEC standards committees for electrical products to be used in hazardous areas.
Chairman of the German committee «Electrical apparatus for use in hazardous areas». Convener of the IEC Maintenance Team on Encapsulation (m), Head of the German delegation in CLC TC 31, Head of the German delegation in IEC TC 31 General requirements, and member of different IEC committees, Maintenance teams and Workings Groups dealing with explosion protection such as “increased safety” (e),“flameproof enclosures” (d), “intrinsic safety” (i), and type of protection “n” (n).
